The Department of Basic Science is one of the supporting departments of the College of Technology and Engineering (CTAE), Udaipur. The Department offers various courses in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English and Human Values at the undergraduate level to the engineering students of the college. It also offers a course in Communication Skills and Technical Writing to the 1^st Year postgraduate students. It aims to build a strong foundation in the principles and phenomena of basic sciences, besides striving to hone their everyday communication skills and instilling human values, thereby facilitating a smooth transition into their respective fields of specialization. With well-qualified and experienced teaching faculty supported by proficient technical staff, the department has been consistently growing over the years. 

To strengthen the fundamentals of students in basic sciences and technology, improve their communication skills, facilitate their personality development, and imbibe human values to mould them into creative, intellectually stimulated and socially responsible individuals
