The undergraduate programmes of the college are designed to be at par with the best in the country. The curriculum exceeds the minimum standards set by various regulatory bodies.
The curriculum of B.Tech. (Civil Engineering) is spread into 8 semesters (4 years) with the first year being common to all the branches of engineering. The curriculum lays equal emphasis on all major fields of Civil Engineering – Structural Engineering, Geotechnical/Foundation Engineering, Environment Engineering, Construction Management and Water-Resource Engineering etc. The curriculum is comparable with the best in India.
The students are taught many courses to develop a sound theoretical knowledge in the analysis and design of Building and Infrastructures. They also learn all major survey methods. They are also taught modern computing techniques and drafting tools such as auto-cad. Students are also given a good experience in computational techniques and latest software, computer aided design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, STAAD, SAP etc. A host of electives in the final year allow the students to acquire knowledge of new areas of their interest like Finite Element Method, Advanced Foundation Engineering, Repair and rehabilitation of structures, Neural Network etc.
Importance of practical knowledge is well known. To fulfil this objective, the students are required to undertake a total of 60 days practical training in the phases and 7 days survey camp. Also the students have to complete a project in the final year. Completion of project allows the students to apply their knowledge to a real life situation depending upon their interest such as design, concrete technology, soil investigations, water resorces and public health engineering etc. |
